After Yoga Class

The value of Pregnancy Yoga

Attending 12 or more Pregnancy Yoga classes has been proven to...

  • Shorten the length of labour

  • Reduce anxiety, depression and perceived stress.

  • Increase odds of an unassisted vaginal birth.

Benefits of Pregnancy Yoga

Yes, attending pregnancy yoga does help ease many common pregnancy conditions such as backache, insomnia, hip and pelvic pain, digestive complaints, stress and anxiety. But it's also so much more than that, it teaches you how to step into your own instincts and power when it comes to birthing your baby.

  • You will spend time in postures that often ease the discomfort of contractions.

  • You will learn how to connect with your breath and really notice how your breath can help you during challenging moments and help you to stay relaxed.

  • You will tap into the flow state where you are completely "in your body" rather than in the analytical mind - this is important to allow the birth to unfold uninterrupted.

  • You will learn how to stay in your parasympathetic nervous system (rest, reproduce and digest) so that your body can more easily birth your baby.

  • You will understand the different stages of labour and practice different techniques to help you as your hormones shift.

All of the above, rather than just giving you a prescriptive set of postures and breathing techniques to follow during labour, will teach you to embody the qualities you need to birth - feeling strong, in control, calm, in your parasympathetic nervous system. Also knowledgable, able to breath in a way that lets go of tension and pain, able to move rhythmically and freely so that you can get more comfortable and help your baby move down and out, able to deeply relax. All of this comes from you! You are the one who births your baby, and pregnancy yoga helps you to tap into your body's innate wisdom and power to have a birth you will feel empowered by.

Learn about birth

We cover so much in the yoga classes, such as

  • What actually happens during labour.

  • Breathing techniques to help you throughout the birth (and to increase your wellbeing while you're pregnant too).

  • How to have an ACTIVE BIRTH so that you stay more comfortable and your baby can move their way out using gravity, movements and postures.

  • How to use a yoga ball during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal phase.

  • How to manage any discomfort and release tension from your body.

  • How to quickly ground yourself and feel more relaxed so that you can remain calm, confident and on control.

This isn't just a fitness class... there is so much more to it...

Your body mind and soul will feel more prepared to give birth as you gain confidence and feel more empowered.

I met Zoe when I was 12 weeks pregnant with my first child and joined her pregnancy yoga class. I found the classes really calming and enjoyed the catch-up chats at the start of every class. My husband and I also joined a group Hypnobirthing course and I definitely feel this helped me prepare for labour. Once my little boy arrived, we joined Zoe's baby yoga class which was a great way to meet and catch up with other new mums,
